Assistant coach Corliss Williamson said in Las Vegas that the Spurs expect newly signed forward Tobias Harris to provide immediate two-way versatility and playoff experience when training camp opens this fall. “His versatility on both ends of the floor is something that can definitely help us,” Williamson told the San Antonio Express-News. Harris, who inked his contract with San Antonio on Monday, turns 34 next Wednesday.

Williamson noted that the club’s core of Victor Wembanyama, Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper propelled San Antonio to the NBA Finals this spring, but double-digit leads lost in all five games against New York underscored the need for steadier veteran leadership. “The more times we have veteran guys in our program to help these guys figure it out is going to be beneficial for them,” he said.

Lee skips national team to chase NBA spot

Forward Hyunjung Lee, a 6’8” shooter nicknamed the “Ace of South Korea,” declined to join South Korea’s World Cup qualifying roster this month so he could play for San Antonio’s Summer League entry. The 25-year-old averaged 7.7 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 17.4 minutes over three California Classic games and hopes the showing will lead to a training-camp invitation. “Playing in the NBA is the biggest dream of mine,” Lee said.

Barnes removes trade veto

Under his new one-year, $8 million contract, forward Harrison Barnes waived the implicit no-trade clause normally granted to players who re-sign for a single season with their previous team. If traded during 2026/27, Barnes’ Bird rights will not transfer to his new club.

Four out-of-county home dates approved

Bexar County commissioners have authorized the Spurs to stage up to four home games outside the county in each of the next two seasons. The franchise, which leases Frost Bank Center from the county, has recently scheduled home contests in Austin, Mexico and France to expand its global following. As part of the plan, San Antonio will meet the Pelicans in January 2027 for games in Paris and Manchester, with the Paris matchup counting as a Spurs home date.
