The Denver Nuggets will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday night without starting forward Aaron Gordon, who has been sidelined by calf tightness, the club announced two hours before tip-off in Minneapolis.
Gordon had originally been listed as probable, but the medical staff downgraded him to questionable on Thursday morning and later removed him from the lineup. Head coach David Adelman said the 30-year-old first reported discomfort following Denver’s 119-114 loss in Game 2 at Ball Arena.
“It’s a downer,” Adelman told reporters, noting that the team believed a two-day break would be enough for Gordon to recover.
This is yet another injury setback for the veteran wing, who missed 46 regular-season games—mostly because of recurring hamstring strains. Denver is already without its other starting wing, Peyton Watson, because of a hamstring issue. Watson completed an on-court workout after the team’s morning shootaround and could return later in the series, which is tied 1-1.
Gordon will receive treatment Thursday night, and the Nuggets plan to reassess his status during Friday’s off-day before determining whether he can play in Saturday’s Game 4.
