The Indiana Pacers and restricted free agent forward Jalen Slawson have agreed to a two-way contract, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Indiana tendered Slawson a two-way qualifying offer in June, so he is expected to sign that one-year deal. The offer carries a partial guarantee worth $91,000.
Slawson, 26, was selected 54th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft out of Furman University. He saw action in 12 games for the Sacramento Kings as a rookie, spent most of the next two seasons in the G League, and joined the Pacers on a two-way agreement late last February.
The 6-foot-7 forward appeared in 13 games for Indiana down the stretch, averaging 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks in 23.9 minutes. He posted shooting splits of .442 from the field, .375 from three-point range and .706 at the free-throw line.
During this month’s Las Vegas Summer League, Slawson averaged 20.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 3.2 blocks in 26.3 minutes per game. He converted just 29.0% of his three-point attempts (9-for-31), committed 3.6 turnovers per contest and picked up 22 personal fouls, the seventh-highest total in the event.
Slawson joins Kobe Brown and Ethan Thompson as the Pacers’ current two-way players. The team is expected to add second-round pick Braden Smith on a two-way contract, a move that would require waiving one of the three.
If Slawson remains on his two-way deal throughout the season, he can appear in up to 50 regular-season games and earn as much as $678,882 while moving between the Pacers and their G League affiliate, the Noblesville Boom.
