The Indiana Pacers have reached a deal to keep forward Jalen Slawson, agreeing to a two-way contract after issuing him a qualifying offer earlier in the offseason, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
Slawson, 26, arrived in Indianapolis late last season following stints with the Sacramento Kings organization and the NBA G League. In 13 games for the Pacers, he averaged 7.3 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.1 blocks, displaying the versatility that first drew the team’s interest.
The 6-foot-7 Furman product built further momentum during July’s Las Vegas Summer League, posting 20.8 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.2 blocks per game. While his athleticism and defensive instincts stood out, he shot 29.0 percent from beyond the arc and committed 3.6 turnovers on average.
Slawson joins Kobe Brown and Ethan Thompson as Indiana’s current two-way players. The Pacers are also expected to sign second-round pick Braden Smith to a two-way deal, a move that could trigger an additional roster adjustment.
