The Chicago Bulls have trimmed their head-coaching search to four finalists and have begun in-person interviews, according to longtime team reporter K.C. Johnson.

Four candidates remain

The remaining pool includes:

  • Tiago Splitter – Acting coach, Portland Trail Blazers
  • Micah Nori – Assistant coach, Minnesota Timberwolves
  • Ryan Schmidt – Assistant coach, Atlanta Hawks
  • Wes Unseld Jr. – Assistant coach, Chicago Bulls

Splitter attracting leaguewide attention

Splitter, a former NBA champion, has earned positive reviews for guiding Portland’s young roster in an expanded role this season. League executives cite his communication skills and player-development background as major strengths.

Unseld offers familiarity

Unseld has spent the past two seasons on Billy Donovan’s staff and briefly filled in as head coach earlier this year during Donovan’s absence. His previous experience leading the Washington Wizards adds head-coaching credentials to his case.

Nori viewed as a culture builder

Nori’s name frequently surfaces in coaching searches. The veteran Timberwolves assistant is respected for building relationships with players and helping establish team culture, qualities Chicago officials reportedly value.

Schmidt brings diverse résumé

Schmidt’s path includes stops in the G League and head-coaching stints in Canada and London. His working relationship with Bulls executive Bryson Graham could bolster his candidacy.

Chicago’s front office evaluated a lengthy list before narrowing it to these four names. With interviews underway, the franchise is expected to choose Billy Donovan’s successor in the near future.
