Charlotte, NC / Brooklyn, NY — The Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets released their four-game preseason lineups on Monday, setting the stage for tune-ups ahead of the 2026-27 NBA campaign.
Hornets preseason slate
Charlotte will open at home against Brooklyn and close on the road in Memphis:
Oct. 6 vs. Brooklyn — 7:00 p.m. ET
Oct. 11 vs. Milwaukee — 7:00 p.m. ET
Oct. 14 at Boston — 7:30 p.m. ET
Oct. 16 at Memphis — 8:00 p.m. ET
The Hornets finished last season 44-38 and were knocked out in the play-in tournament’s final game for the Eastern Conference’s No. 8 seed. The franchise has missed the postseason 10 straight years, the NBA’s longest active drought.
Nets preseason schedule
Brooklyn begins its exhibition run in Charlotte before hosting Philadelphia:
Oct. 6 at Charlotte — 7:00 p.m. ET
Oct. 8 vs. Philadelphia — 7:30 p.m. ET
Oct. 12 at Washington — 7:00 p.m. ET
Oct. 14 at Miami — 7:30 p.m. ET
The Nets went 20-62 in 2025-26, the league’s third-worst record, and have missed the playoffs three consecutive seasons.
Off-season moves
Both clubs were part of a six-team trade that sent LaMelo Ball to Minnesota, brought Naz Reid to Charlotte, and moved Julius Randle to Brooklyn. The Hornets also drafted Hannes Steinbach (No. 14) and Christian Anderson Jr. (No. 18), while the Nets selected Mikel Brown Jr. at No. 6.
