Cleveland Cavaliers two-way forward Riley Minnix is close to finalizing a contract with French club ASVEL, multiple international reports said on Monday.
The 25-year-old signed a two-way deal with Cleveland in February after starting the 2023-24 campaign in the San Antonio Spurs organization. He saw action in six NBA games for the Cavaliers and split G League time between the Austin Spurs and the Cleveland Charge.
Across 34 G League appearances this past season, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 18.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 51.9 percent from the field and 42.8 percent from beyond the arc.
Minnix went undrafted out of Morehead State in 2024 but quickly earned a spot with San Antonio before moving to Cleveland. He remains under a non-guaranteed two-way contract with the Cavaliers for 2024-25, yet a move overseas could provide increased playing time and a potentially larger payday.
If the agreement is finalized, the Kentucky native would make his first appearance in European basketball with ASVEL, a perennial contender in France’s LNB Pro A and a regular participant in the EuroLeague.
