New York Knicks center Mitchell Robinson is expected to suit up for Game 1 of the NBA Finals, less than two months after suffering a broken hand, the team confirmed on Wednesday.

Head coach Tom Thibodeau told reporters that medical staff cleared the 7-footer earlier in the day, paving the way for his return when the series opens Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.

Robinson sustained the injury in early April and missed the remainder of the Eastern Conference playoffs. Team doctors initially projected a longer recovery, but recent imaging showed the fracture had fully healed.

The 28-year-old averaged 9.4 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.0 blocks during the regular season. Thibodeau did not specify whether Robinson will start or come off the bench but said his rim protection and offensive rebounding “give us an important dimension.”
