The Boston Celtics lowered Jayson Tatum’s status from active to questionable for Saturday’s Game 7 against the Philadelphia 76ers because of left knee stiffness, the club announced on social media.
Tatum, a five-time All-NBA selection, returned to action in March after a torn right Achilles tendon sidelined him for most of the season. Through the first six games of the opening-round series, the 28-year-old forward is averaging 23.3 points, 10.7 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 1.2 steals while shooting 47.5% from the field and 36.5% from three-point range.
Philadelphia also updated its injury report. According to PHLY Sports, nine-time All-Star Paul George is listed as probable because of an illness, indicating the Sixers expect him to play Saturday night. George has produced 18.2 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.7 steals per game in the series on 48.7% overall shooting, including 54.3% from deep.
Boston entered the matchup as a heavy favorite and built a 3-1 lead, but Philadelphia forced a decisive game by winning the past two contests. Game 7 will take place at TD Garden, where the Celtics have dropped two of three games in the series.
