Basketball Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett criticized rookie superstar Victor Wembanyama for displaying what he called excessive emotion after clinching a spot in the 2026 NBA Finals, according to a report published Wednesday, June 3.
Garnett, a 15-time All-Star who won a championship with the Boston Celtics in 2008, said Wembanyama was “too emotional” during the post-game celebration that followed his team’s conference-finals victory. The longtime power forward suggested the 7-foot-4 French phenom should curb his reactions until the league title is secured, the New York Post reported.
The 20-year NBA veteran did not question Wembanyama’s talent but argued that maintaining composure is essential once the pressure of the Finals begins.
Neither Wembanyama nor his team had publicly responded to Garnett’s remarks as of Wednesday afternoon.
