Giannis Antetokounmpo is reportedly considering the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics as potential landing spots should he decide to leave the Milwaukee Bucks, according to The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Eric Nehm.
The two-time NBA MVP has long been linked to Miami, where he is said to admire the franchise’s culture and emphasis on winning. However, questions remain about whether the Heat could stay in championship contention after surrendering the assets necessary to acquire a player of Antetokounmpo’s stature.
Boston also appeals to the six-time All-NBA forward. Despite a first-round playoff exit this season, the Celtics possess one of the league’s deeper rosters and may be better positioned to compete immediately even after a major trade.
Antetokounmpo’s focus remains squarely on pursuing more championships. He led Milwaukee to its first NBA title in 50 years by defeating the Phoenix Suns in the 2021 Finals, but the Bucks have managed only one playoff series win since and missed the postseason entirely this year. The team’s recent struggles have intensified speculation about his long-term future.
Executives, agents and rival teams are monitoring the situation closely. Many around the league still view the Heat as the most likely destination, helped in part by Antetokounmpo’s shared representation with Miami star Bam Adebayo.
