Cavaliers, Warriors Reportedly Unwilling to Pursue Anthony Davis Trade

The Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors are not exploring a trade for Washington Wizards forward Anthony Davis, according to league sources cited by Ashish Mathur of Dallas Hoops Journal.
The report comes as LeBron James remains an unsigned free agent nearly one month into the offseason. Both Davis and James are represented by Klutch Sports, fueling speculation that Klutch has been gauging interest in reuniting the former Los Angeles Lakers teammates on James’s next club.
“Klutch is trying to get AD to Cleveland or Golden State. Neither team wants to do it,” a source told Mathur.

Current team: Davis has been with the Wizards since a February trade from the Dallas Mavericks.
Contract timeline: He becomes eligible for a contract extension on Aug. 6.
Other suitors: The Miami Heat are also not expected to pursue Davis, having already acquired Giannis Antetokounmpo to pair with Bam Adebayo in the frontcourt. Antetokounmpo and Adebayo have reportedly been recruiting James.

Golden State has shown interest in James, but ESPN’s Anthony Slater reported this week that the Warriors are pessimistic about landing the 39-year-old star. Cleveland and Miami continue to monitor the situation, yet a recent note from The Athletic quoted a source close to James saying, “Nobody knows right now except LeBron,” and adding uncertainty about whether even James has made a final decision.
James and Davis spent six seasons together with the Lakers and captured the 2020 NBA championship. Despite their history and shared representation, current indications suggest Cleveland and Golden State are not willing to facilitate another reunion.
