Sandro Mamukelashvili Voices Enthusiasm After Inking Four-Year Deal With Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers added front-court shooting and versatility on Wednesday by signing stretch big man Sandro Mamukelashvili to a four-year, $52 million contract.

The agreement, reached during a rapid 35-minute roster overhaul, lures the 27-year-old away from the Toronto Raptors, where he averaged 11.2 points and 4.9 rebounds while hitting 38.9% from three-point range last season. His efficiency—52.3% from the field overall—positions him to compete either for the starting power-forward spot or as a reserve stretch five alongside center Walker Kessler.

Mamukelashvili shared his excitement on social media shortly after the deal became public, writing, “Excited to be part of the Lakers family. #LakeShow” in a post dated July 2, 2026.

The Georgian forward joins a revamped core built around Luka Dončić and Austin Reaves. Los Angeles also reached multi-year agreements with Kessler, Quentin Grimes and Collin Sexton as the club reshapes its lineup for the upcoming season.

Lakers still targeting wing depth

With 13 players now under contract, the Lakers continue to search for help on the wing. Team officials are exploring veteran-minimum signings or potential trades involving back-end roster players such as Jarred Vanderbilt, Jake LaRavia and Dalton Knecht.

Atlanta Hawks forward Jonathan Kuminga, recently made an unrestricted free agent after Atlanta declined his $24 million team option, is among the possibilities. Los Angeles would need to clear cap space or convince Kuminga to accept a minimum deal. The club is also monitoring the status of Rui Hachimura, who remains unsigned two days into free agency.
