The Los Angeles Clippers have reached an agreement with former Xavier big man Zach Freemantle, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Freemantle, 24, went undrafted in June after spending six seasons at Xavier, where he missed the entire 2023/24 campaign because of injuries. The 6’9” forward/center returned for a super-senior season in 2024/25 and averaged 16.8 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.1 steals over 31 games, earning second-team All-Big East honors for the second time.
He boosted his profile in April by making the Portsmouth Invitational All-Tournament Team and later appeared for the Orlando Magic during Las Vegas Summer League, contributing 6.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per game.
Contract terms were not disclosed, but the Clippers lack room for a standard roster spot and already have three players on two-way deals. That makes an Exhibit 10 agreement the most likely mechanism. If Freemantle signs that type of deal, he could earn a bonus of up to $85,300 by spending at least 60 days with the franchise’s G League affiliate, the San Diego Clippers, should he be waived before the regular season.
Once the signing becomes official, Los Angeles will have the offseason maximum of 21 players under contract.
