Host nation Angola reclaimed continental supremacy on Sunday, August 24, by defeating Mali 70–43 in the 2025 AfroBasket final in Luanda. The victory gives Angola a tournament-best 12 championships, its first since 2013.

Point guard Childe Dundao powered the win with a game-high 16 points, five assists, four rebounds and three steals. The 27-year-old was voted Most Valuable Player and earned a place on the All-Tournament Team.

Former NBA center Bruno Fernando contributed five points, five rebounds and two blocks in 17 minutes. Despite a quiet final, his six-game averages of 7.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 1.7 blocks also secured an All-Tournament selection.

Historic Run for Mali

Mali reached the AfroBasket championship game for the first time. Guard Siriman Kanoute, who plays professionally in France, led Mali on Sunday with 14 points. Center Aliou Diarra and forward Mahamane Coulibaly were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Bronze Medal Game

Earlier Sunday, Senegal topped Cameroon for third place. Basketball Africa League MVP Jean Jacques Boissy poured in 40 points and handed out seven assists for Senegal, which claimed bronze for the third straight tournament and has now appeared in five consecutive third-place games.

Cameroon center Yves Missi — one of two active NBA players in the field — finished with nine points and seven rebounds, but Cameroon was outscored by 26 during his 24 minutes on the floor.
