Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic would choose Michael Jordan if he could challenge any NBA legend to a game of one-on-one, the All-Star told the Spanish outlet Drafteados in an interview published on June 16, 2026.
Asked by a young fan named Erik which former great he most wanted to face, Doncic answered, “Michael Jordan, easy answer. He was an incredible player and I’d love to play against him.” The 27-year-old added that while the matchup has not happened on the basketball court, he has also yet to meet Jordan for a round of golf, a sport Doncic said he only recently began playing.
Doncic, who averaged an NBA-best 33.5 points per game during the 2025-26 regular season, is known for embracing tough competition. Jordan’s résumé includes six championships, five MVP awards and the 1988 Defensive Player of the Year honor, attributes that make him the Slovenian star’s ideal opponent.
Despite leading the league in scoring, Doncic has not yet secured an MVP trophy or an NBA title. He recently called the coming offseason “very important” for the Lakers, saying any year without a championship counts as a “bad season.” Los Angeles finished the campaign hampered by late injuries, including issues that sidelined Doncic down the stretch.
