Cameron Carr Says He Will Do ‘Whatever It Takes’ to Help Lakers Win

LAS VEGAS — Rookie guard Cameron Carr, selected 24th overall by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2026 NBA Draft, said he is prepared to accept any role required to boost the team’s chances this season.
“I’ll do whatever it takes to win,” Carr told ClutchPoints during Summer League play. “Whatever they need to help the team win, I’m willing to do it.”
The 20-year-old impressed scouts and coaches throughout Summer League, averaging 17.4 points and 2.9 rebounds across seven games split between the California Classic and the Las Vegas circuit. He connected on 42.3% of his field-goal attempts overall. From three-point range, he shot 40.9% in Sacramento before a minor thumb injury on his shooting hand contributed to a drop to 19.2% in Las Vegas, leaving him at 29.2% for the combined schedule.
Carr has identified defense as the quickest path to earning minutes on a veteran-heavy Lakers roster. “Understanding my impact on that side of the court will help me get on the floor,” he said earlier in the week.
Los Angeles is counting on internal growth from its young wings. Carr joins second-year guard Adou Thiero, along with free-agent additions Ziaire Williams and Matisse Thybulle, in a competition for perimeter roles. Thiero, who also delivered a strong Summer League showing, has already taken on a mentor’s role with the newcomer.
The Lakers open training camp in the fall, when head coach Darvin Ham will determine whether Carr’s two-way promise translates into a place in the regular-season rotation.
