AJ Dybantsa Calls Luka Dončić’s 40-Point Triple-Double the Wildest Performance He Has Witnessed

Salt Lake City, Utah – Projected 2026 No. 1 NBA Draft pick AJ Dybantsa says watching Luka Dončić dominate the Utah Jazz last season was the most astonishing individual effort he has ever seen live.
During a recent appearance on the “Gil’s Arena” podcast, the BYU forward recalled seeing the Los Angeles Lakers star post what he described as an “easy” 40-point triple-double at Delta Center. “That was probably the craziest single-person performance I’ve ever seen,” Dybantsa said.
The 18-year-old prospect, widely expected to be selected first overall by the Washington Wizards, is known for his two-way ability. He told host Gilbert Arenas that he studies top scorers to learn how to guard them and singled out Dončić and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.
“I want to see, from a defensive standpoint, how it feels,” Dybantsa explained. “They’re making it look way too easy, and I just want to know how they get their shots off.”
Dončić and Gilgeous-Alexander are both praised for controlling tempo and scoring at all three levels, traits that make them difficult to defend. Dybantsa said matching up with elite perimeter threats will help accelerate his own development.
The forward also mentioned LeBron James as another star he hopes to face in the NBA. Dybantsa worked out with James last offseason and noted he would circle any future meetings with the Lakers on his calendar if the four-time MVP returns for another year in Los Angeles.
Elsewhere in Lakers circles, franchise legend Derek Fisher recently stated he believes Dončić could lead Los Angeles back into championship contention.
