Valencia Basket to Sign Forward Mouhamadou Gueye

VALENCIA, Spain — Valencia Basket confirmed Monday that it has reached an agreement with forward Mouhamadou Gueye, signaling the likely end of the 28-year-old’s brief stay with the Charlotte Hornets.
Gueye remains on Charlotte’s roster after arriving in a multi-team trade earlier this offseason, but he is expected to be waived shortly so he can finalize the move to Spain. The Hornets acquired him when a three-team deal involving the Timberwolves, Nets and Bulls was expanded to include Charlotte.
The 6-9 forward went undrafted out of Pittsburgh in 2022 and has spent most of his professional career in the NBA G League, making stops with the Texas Legends, Raptors 905, Capital City Go-Go and Windy City Bulls. He averaged 14.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.4 blocks over 47 games for Windy City last season.
Chicago rewarded that production by signing Gueye to a two-year deal during the final week of the 2025/26 regular season. He appeared in the Bulls’ last two games, totaling 16 points, six rebounds and six assists across 45 minutes. Chicago later exercised its non-guaranteed team option for 2026/27 to facilitate the trade that ultimately landed him in Charlotte.
Valencia finished second in the 2025/26 EuroLeague regular-season standings at 25-13 and reached the Final Four before falling to Real Madrid. The Spanish club is overhauling its roster this summer following the departures of leading scorer Jean Montero to Olympiacos and first-round NBA pick Sergio de Larrea to the Dallas Mavericks.
Gueye will join Valencia as the club restructures for another EuroLeague run, pending his release from the Hornets.
