Rival front offices believe the Brooklyn Nets are giving “serious consideration” to selecting Tennessee forward Nate Ament with the No. 6 pick in the upcoming NBA Draft, according to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.
Despite varying projections on where Ament might be taken, league sources told Siegel that Brooklyn continues to spend significant time evaluating the 6-foot-8 forward. The Nets earned a reputation for unpredictability last year when they used five first-round selections, signaling a willingness to defy consensus boards.
Bulls Eye Second Lottery Pick
The Chicago Bulls, currently holding the No. 4 selection, are exploring ways to secure another top-10 pick, Siegel reported. While executives view a second slot in the top tier as unlikely, Chicago is thought to be targeting the latter half of the lottery.
One potential target is Michigan center Aday Mara. Both Chicago and Oklahoma City have inquired about moving up for the 7-foot-3 prospect, who has risen on several internal boards. Former Michigan teammate Morez Johnson is also drawing interest from the Bulls, according to the report.
Mavericks Refine Guard Rankings
Sitting at No. 9, the Dallas Mavericks appear to be looking past Kingston Flemings. Team evaluators currently rank him behind several guards, including Arizona freshman Brayden Burries, league sources told Siegel.
For Burries, Atlanta is viewed as an unfavorable destination if he is still available when the Hawks select eighth, the report added.
The NBA Draft is scheduled for June 26, and teams continue to adjust their boards as workouts and interviews conclude.
