The Brooklyn Nets have agreed to multi-year contract extensions with head coach Jordi Fernandez and every member of his coaching staff, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported on social media.
Fernandez took over in Brooklyn before the 2024/25 season following assistant roles with the Cavaliers, Nuggets and Kings. In his first two campaigns guiding the Nets, the team posted records of 26-56 and 20-62.
Brooklyn prioritized player development and draft positioning during the 2025/26 season, selecting five prospects in the first round last June. The club’s 20-win finish was the league’s third worst, securing a 14 percent chance at the top pick—identical odds to the Wizards and Pacers, who ended with the two poorest records.
The assistants receiving new deals alongside Fernandez are Steve Hetzel, Juwan Howard, Jay Hernandez, Dutch Gaitley, Deividas Dulkys, Ryan Forehan-Kelly, Connor Griffin, Corey Vinson and Travis Bader.
“Jordi is a tremendous leader who, along with his coaching staff, put his stamp on this franchise from the moment he arrived in Brooklyn,” general manager Sean Marks said in a team statement. “Over his first two seasons, Jordi has built a strong foundation rooted in player development, a competitive spirit and honest communication, all of which have been embraced throughout our roster.”
