Los Angeles — The Los Angeles Lakers have waived rookie guard Peter Suder, creating a two-way roster opening that will be filled by Summer League forward Arthur Kaluma, ESPN’s Dave McMenamin reported on July 21.
Suder, 23, joined the organization after going undrafted out of Miami (Ohio). The 6-foot-4 guard was the 2025-26 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and helped the RedHawks complete a 31-0 regular season. He averaged 14.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists while shooting 54.6 percent from the floor and 42.1 percent from three as a senior.
His production dipped during Summer League play. In six combined games at the California Classic and Las Vegas, Suder posted 5.3 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists, hitting 33.3 percent of his field-goal attempts.
The Lakers’ G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers, are willing to keep Suder as an affiliate player, according to McMenamin. The undrafted guard is expected to weigh other options before deciding on his next step.
Kaluma’s impending two-way contract will place him alongside guards Chris Manon and AK Okereke as the franchise’s trio of two-way players for the 2026-27 season.
