The NBA Finals are still in progress, yet front offices across the league are holding back major moves until the Milwaukee Bucks clarify their intentions for star forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to an ESPN report by Brian Windhorst and Tim Bontemps.
“It seems like everyone else’s business is on hold until we see what happens with Giannis,” an Eastern Conference scout told ESPN.
The uncertainty comes with the NBA Draft less than two weeks away. Executives, scouts and rival teams remain unsure whether Milwaukee will pursue a blockbuster trade or double down on building around the two-time MVP.
ESPN reported that the Bucks have shown an unprecedented willingness to examine potential deals for Antetokounmpo. However, no agreement is considered imminent, and Milwaukee continues to weigh its limited draft capital, existing dead money and tight roster flexibility. Those constraints could make veteran talent more attractive than future draft picks in any potential package.
Much still depends on Antetokounmpo himself. The 29-year-old has never publicly requested a trade or indicated a preferred destination. Should that stance shift, teams such as the Miami Heat could emerge as prime suitors; if it does not, a broader bidding war could unfold.
For now, league activity remains largely frozen. Many front offices are waiting for Milwaukee’s decision before finalizing draft boards, trade discussions or free-agency strategies.
