Mavericks Match Cisse Offer Sheet; Blazers Outline Plan for Henderson; Bucks Rookie Impresses in Vegas

The Mavericks will keep restricted free agent center Moussa Cisse after matching the New York Knicks’ offer sheet, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported. The move secures the 23-year-old for a second season following a rookie campaign in which he averaged 4.5 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.2 blocks across 38 appearances.
Dallas is still evaluating additional front-court changes. Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints noted the club is actively discussing trades involving center Daniel Gafford, who is now viewed as likely to be moved after Summer League talks. The Mavericks’ interior rotation already features Dereck Lively II, newly acquired Santi Aldama, first-round pick Morez Johnson Jr. and Cisse, giving the team 16 players on standard contracts—Cisse being the lone non-guaranteed deal.
The Knicks are barred from trading for Cisse after the match but could sign him if Dallas eventually waives him.
Portland Trail Blazers
Point guard Scoot Henderson is set to work under his third head coach in less than a year. New hire Micah Nori told Sean Highkin of The Rose Garden Report that creating open lanes is the primary goal for the former No. 3 overall pick.
“We’ve got to make sure we create space for him. The thing he can do is attack the paint and get downhill,” Nori said, adding that Henderson’s pace and decision-making will be focal points in 2026-27.
Portland’s backcourt now includes Ja Morant, Damian Lillard and Jrue Holiday, prompting Nori to envision Henderson playing both on and off the ball within a share-heavy offense.
Milwaukee Bucks
Rookie guard Brayden Burries closed an eye-catching Las Vegas Summer League by scoring 27 points—hitting the game-winner—during Saturday’s win over the Philadelphia 76ers. The No. 10 pick out of Arizona finished the event averaging 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.2 assists with only three total turnovers in four games, according to The Athletic’s Eric Nehm.
Assistant coach Patrick St. Andrews praised Burries’ poise: “You can feel his maturity for his age, and then obviously, you see the talent.” The Bucks expect the 19-year-old to play a major role as the franchise transitions after trading Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami.
