NEW YORK — Knicks center Mitchell Robinson announced Saturday that he is temporarily deleting his social-media applications to concentrate on his mental health and the team’s Eastern Conference finals run.
In a Snapchat post sent hours before Game 3, the 26-year-old wrote that he was “deleting all apps for a little while” after a “very upsetting experience a few days ago.” Robinson added that his phone number has changed and acknowledged that “my mental health is not the best right now but I am fighting to get back on track while playing on the biggest stage in the world.”
Robinson first disclosed his struggle after being ejected from Game 6 of the opening round against Atlanta for an altercation with Dyson Daniels. He later posted on Facebook that he felt “just lost in the world at the moment,” followed by another message Thursday declaring that he would remove all social accounts: “This is the start of a new chapter in my life. Love and will miss y’all. Mitch out.”
LeBron James Applauds Knicks’ Offensive Variety
Lakers forward LeBron James lauded New York’s evolving attack during the “Mind the Game” podcast. James said defenses can no longer lock in on predictable sets focused on Jalen Brunson isolations and pick-and-rolls, noting that running more actions through Karl-Anthony Towns has “opened up opportunities for everyone on the court.”
Cleveland has attempted to curb Towns’ passing lanes, but the Knicks have continued to win. Brunson scored 38 points in Game 1, while Josh Hart fueled a long-range surge in Game 2. “We have multiple ways and systems that we can utilize to help us get the win,” Towns said after Saturday’s shootaround.
Brown Highlights Bridges’ Two-Way Impact
Before Game 3, head coach Mike Brown credited ownership and the front office for acquiring Mikal Bridges. “(Owner) Mr. Dolan is willing to spend money,” Brown told reporters, adding that team president Leon Rose “identified Mikal as a two-way player and they went and got him.”
Pre-Draft Workout
Miami senior guard Tre Donaldson, who averaged 16.4 points and 5.7 assists this season, became the latest draft prospect to visit New York for a workout, according to SNY.
