The Golden State Warriors have elected not to match the Memphis Grizzlies’ three-year, $30 million offer sheet for restricted free-agent center Quinten Post, clearing the way for the 24-year-old to join Memphis.
The offer sheet was signed Monday, just before the July moratorium expired, giving Golden State a 36-hour window to respond. ESPN’s Shams Charania and Anthony Slater reported the Warriors’ decision Tuesday.
Post’s contract is guaranteed only for the first season, carrying a $9 million base salary for 2026-27. Each year includes incentives—$1.35 million in year one and $1.28 million in the final two seasons—tied to making an All-Defensive team. Although those bonuses are classified as unlikely and do not count against the salary cap, they do apply to the apron calculation, a key factor as Golden State navigates an expected second-apron hard cap.
The final two years feature non-guaranteed base salaries of $8.5 million apiece, giving Memphis roster flexibility beyond 2026-27.
Selected 52nd overall in the 2024 draft, Post emerged as a dependable reserve and occasional starter for the Warriors last season. He appeared in 67 games, starting 35, and averaged 7.7 points and 4.0 rebounds in 17.3 minutes while shooting 44.0% from the field and 33.6% from three-point range.
Golden State extended a $2.6 million qualifying offer to retain restricted rights but ultimately deemed Memphis’ proposal too costly. Post now joins a reshaped Grizzlies frontcourt that includes first-round picks Cameron Boozer and Karim Lopez, recent trade acquisition Isaiah Stewart, and incumbent center Zach Edey.
According to ESPN, Post’s agreement is the first offer sheet worth at least $5 million annually to go unmatched since Bogdan Bogdanovic left the Kings for the Hawks in 2020.
