The Charlotte Hornets plan to add undrafted forward Michael Ajayi on a two-way contract, according to league sources cited by Tony Jones of The Athletic.
The 6’7” wing wrapped up a winding college career that included two seasons in junior college followed by stops at Pepperdine, Gonzaga and, most recently, Butler. As a senior with the Bulldogs in 2025-26, Ajayi averaged 16.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks across 33.6 minutes per game.
Despite that production, the Los Angeles native shot just 45.5% from the field, 26.1% from beyond the arc and 65.3% at the free-throw line over 32 appearances. His performance earned first-team All-Big East honors, and he was rated No. 63 on ESPN analyst Jeremy Woo’s draft board.
Under NBA rules, a two-way deal lets a player move between the Hornets and their G League affiliate without counting against Charlotte’s salary cap. Ajayi is projected to earn approximately $679,000 as a rookie next season, provided he remains with the club beyond the league-wide guarantee date in January.
