Houston Rockets forward Kevin Durant will miss Game 5 of the team’s first-round matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, head coach Ime Udoka confirmed.
Durant, sidelined by a left ankle sprain and bone bruise, has played only once in the series. He sat out Games 1 and 3 with a bruised right knee and the current ankle issue, then logged 23 points in 41 minutes during Houston’s Game 2 loss.
The 37-year-old did not practice Tuesday before the Rockets traveled to California, though he was seen running on an anti-gravity treadmill. “It’s day to day, game to game,” Udoka said, noting that Durant must complete on-court work before returning.
With Durant out in Game 4, forward Tari Eason supplied 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals as Houston avoided elimination.
The Lakers listed guard Austin Reaves as questionable for Game 5. Reaves has missed the entire series because of a left oblique muscle strain.
