The Boston Celtics believe they can still keep All-Star guard Jaylen Brown even after gauging his trade value this offseason, according to reports from Marc Stein and Jake Fischer.

Team officials told The Stein Line that discussions with the Milwaukee Bucks about a potential deal involving Giannis Antetokounmpo have not damaged the franchise’s relationship with Brown beyond repair. Boston executives reportedly see a realistic path to reconciling with the 27-year-old and keeping him alongside Jayson Tatum.

That stance contrasts with speculation around the league. Rival front offices continue to anticipate that Boston will move Brown before the 2024-25 season, the reports said.

The Celtics’ strategy has been consistent since the offseason began: if Brown is traded, the return must allow the club to remain a championship contender rather than initiate a rebuild. ESPN’s Shams Charania added that Boston has asked interested teams for a minimum of four first-round picks as part of any package for the two-time All-Star, a price tag that could limit potential suitors.

Brown is eligible in July to sign a two-year contract extension worth up to $141.8 million, providing another opportunity for both sides to reaffirm their commitment.
