Point guard Jose Alvarado is headed back to Madison Square Garden. The 28-year-old has agreed to a $14 million contract with the New York Knicks, the team confirmed Friday.
The agreement comes just days after Alvarado declined his player option for the 2026-27 season, briefly making him a free agent. Financial terms were disclosed, but the team did not release the length of the pact.
Alvarado joined New York midway through last season and quickly earned a spot in the rotation with his tenacious on-ball defense and energy off the bench. Re-signing the guard addresses one of the Knicks’ key offseason priorities before the start of free agency on July 1.
Alvarado is expected to report to the team’s training camp in early October.
