The Cleveland Cavaliers have signed rookie guard Meleek Thomas, the No. 34 selection in this year’s draft, to a four-year contract worth $9.3 million.

According to a report from Jeff Goodman of Goodman Hoops, the agreement uses the NBA’s second-round pick exception. The first three seasons and $6.4 million of the deal are guaranteed, while the overall value lines up with the league’s minimum-salary scale.

Thomas, a 6-foot-3 combo guard, spent the 2025-26 college season at Arkansas, where he played alongside future Sacramento Kings lottery choice Darius Acuff. In 37 appearances (21 starts), he averaged 15.6 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals in 30.5 minutes per game. He converted 41.6 percent of his 5.3 three-point attempts and knocked down 84.3 percent of his free throws, earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.

Projected by many analysts as a late first-round pick, Thomas slid into the early second round before Cleveland selected him. The Cavaliers are expected to give the 20-year-old time to develop in the G League during his rookie campaign.
