Bucks Meet With Former Grizzlies Coach Taylor Jenkins
SLUG: bucks-interview-taylor-jenkins-head-coach-search
The Milwaukee Bucks have formally interviewed former Memphis Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins as the franchise begins narrowing its search for a new head coach, according to The Athletic.
Sources told the outlet that the initial conversation centered on the team’s long-term direction rather than specific contract terms. A follow-up meeting is expected, signaling mutual interest in continuing the dialogue.
Jenkins, 39, compiled a 250-214 record across six seasons in Memphis and guided the Grizzlies to the postseason four times. Before taking over in Memphis, he spent a season on Milwaukee’s bench as an assistant, giving him familiarity with the Bucks’ infrastructure.
Milwaukee’s vacancy opened when it became clear that Doc Rivers would not return. League executives view Jenkins as one of the top coaches currently available, suggesting he may evaluate multiple opportunities before committing.
While Jenkins remains a leading candidate in Milwaukee, league observers are also monitoring the Orlando Magic. Speculation about possible changes involving head coach Jamahl Mosley has quieted somewhat after Orlando’s recent playoff victory in Detroit, but the situation bears watching.
The Bucks are expected to continue interviews in the coming days as they aim to finalize their choice ahead of offseason preparations.
