HOUSTON — Rockets forward Kevin Durant remains a game-time question for Wednesday’s Game 5 against the Los Angeles Lakers as he continues to rehab a sprained left ankle and bone bruise, head coach Ime Udoka said Tuesday.
Durant skipped the team’s full practice before Houston boarded its flight to California. Instead, the 37-year-old worked on an antigravity treadmill while teammates wrapped up drills. Asked about the possibility of the 13-time All-Star returning with Houston trailing 3-1 in the best-of-seven first-round series, Udoka replied, “We’ll see,” noting that the club is evaluating him “day to day, game to game.”
The veteran scorer has appeared in only one game this postseason. After missing the series opener with a bruised right knee, he logged 23 points in 41 minutes during Game 2, where he rolled his left ankle late in the contest. He sat out Games 3 and 4; Houston extended the matchup with a 115-96 home win on Sunday.
Durant logged 2,840 minutes during the regular season, the league’s second-highest total, in his first campaign with the Rockets following an offseason trade from Phoenix. The two-time NBA champion ranks fifth on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
Game 5 is scheduled for Wednesday night at Crypto.com Arena.
