CHICAGO — The Chicago Bulls announced Wednesday that guard Josh Giddey underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right ankle and is projected to be ready for the opening of training camp.

The procedure will keep the 23-year-old out of basketball activities for approximately three months, according to the team.

Despite battling hamstring and ankle issues, Giddey posted career bests this past season with 17.0 points, 9.1 assists and 8.3 rebounds per game, but appeared in only 54 contests—his fewest since his 2021-22 rookie campaign with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Chicago finished 31-51, placing 12th in the Eastern Conference and missing the postseason for the fourth straight year. Significant changes are underway: Bryson Graham has been hired as executive vice president of basketball operations following the dismissal of Arturas Karnisovas, and the club is searching for a new head coach after Billy Donovan resigned against ownership’s wishes.

The Bulls enter the offseason with nearly $60 million in salary-cap room and two first-round selections, including the No. 4 overall pick.
