June 30, 2026 — A handful of professional sports teams outside the NBA playfully reached out to LeBron James on Tuesday, publicly inviting the basketball star to consider switching sports.
The NFL’s Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills were among the first to express interest, tagging James on social media and noting how his size and athleticism could translate to the football field. The Lake Elsinore Storm, the Single-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres, quickly followed, posting a tongue-in-cheek graphic suggesting the four-time NBA champion would look good in a baseball uniform.
The overtures were made in jest and carried no formal contract offers, but they sparked a wave of online discussion as fans envisioned James suiting up in different sports. James, who turns 42 in December and remains under contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, has not publicly responded to the multi-sport pitches.
