Newly drafted forward/center Caleb Wilson made an ambitious first impression after the Chicago Bulls selected him No. 4 overall on Tuesday. Speaking Friday at the United Center, the former North Carolina standout said he “expects” to win the 2026-27 NBA Rookie of the Year award and ultimately hopes to be regarded among the game’s greats. “Striving to be the greatest ever is a bold thing to say, but that’s what I’m striving for,” Wilson told reporters, adding that his confidence is rooted in his work ethic.
The Bulls introduced Wilson alongside No. 15 pick Dailyn Swain. New head of basketball operations Bryson Graham used the event to underline the franchise’s immediate priority. “Defense is going to be the calling card for our team to begin with,” Graham said, noting that first-year head coach Tiago Splitter has stressed that rookies will earn minutes primarily on the defensive end.
Yabusele Reflects on Difficult Season
Veteran forward Guerschon Yabusele, acquired from the Knicks at February’s trade deadline and now an unrestricted free agent, recapped a challenging year during the debut episode of his YouTube series “Summer With The Bear.” The French international explained that choosing New York over Denver last summer “didn’t go the way I hoped,” but called his stint in Chicago “a high point” of the season. Yabusele also confirmed plans to join France for this summer’s 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying windows.
Waltons Purchase Minority Interest
Lukas Walton and his wife, Samantha Walton, have acquired an undisclosed minority stake in both the Bulls and the United Center, the team announced. Forbes estimated Lukas Walton’s net worth at $39.8 billion in 2025. The deal involves the purchase of existing minority shares; majority ownership remains unchanged.
