Lakers, ESPN Los Angeles 710 Renew Long-Term Radio Partnership

The Los Angeles Lakers and ESPN Los Angeles 710 AM have extended their radio rights agreement, securing the station’s role as the franchise’s exclusive radio broadcaster for preseason, regular-season and postseason games.
ESPN LA has carried Lakers contests since 2009. Although specific terms were not released, both organizations described the new pact as a multi-year commitment that will keep every game on the station “for many years to come.”
Lakers chief operating officer and president of business operations Tim Harris said the renewal underscores the station’s “outstanding coverage” and on-air personalities that resonate with fans. Sam Pines, senior vice president and market manager for ESPN LA, added that calling Lakers basketball “remains an honor” and that the partnership brings the team’s excitement to listeners throughout the Lakers Radio Network.
Broadcast Team Remains Intact
Play-by-play announcer John Ireland will return for his 14th season on the microphone, teaming again with color commentator Mychal Thompson, who is entering his 22nd year after winning two NBA championships with the Lakers during his playing career.
Multiple Ways to Listen
In addition to the traditional 710 AM signal, every game will stream live on the ESPN LA app. The station also features daily sports talk programs such as “Mason & Ireland,” hosted by Steve Mason and John Ireland, and “Sedano & Kap,” with Jorge Sedano and Scott Kaplan.

The renewed deal means radio broadcasts will continue to spotlight new franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic, who recently signed a three-year, $165 million extension. Team officials also expect guard Austin Reaves to be a key part of future broadcasts, although Reaves plans to test unrestricted free agency next offseason before potentially re-signing with Los Angeles.
The contract extension keeps ESPN Los Angeles 710 at the center of the Lakers’ audio coverage as the team prepares for another season at Crypto.com Arena.
