Adou Thiero Out for Lakers’ Summer League Finale With Right Wrist Injury

The Los Angeles Lakers ruled forward Adou Thiero out of Monday night’s California Classic Summer League game against the San Antonio Spurs because of a right wrist injury.
Thiero had been listed in the starting lineup but did not take the floor for the opening tip and later appeared on the bench wearing a hoodie. Guard Chris Mañon started in his place for the club’s third and final matchup at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
The team has not disclosed when Thiero sustained the injury or its severity. The Lakers hope the second-year player will be available when they open Las Vegas Summer League play on Friday, the first of five games in a 10-day stretch.
Thiero appeared in Los Angeles’s first two contests at the California Classic, averaging 11.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.5 steals in roughly 23 minutes per game. After a slow start against the Golden State Warriors, he delivered a stronger performance in the double-overtime victory over the Miami Heat.
The 6-foot-6 forward missed last year’s Summer League, preseason and part of the regular season with various injuries. Entering this offseason healthy, he said his focus is on improving perimeter shooting and gaining confidence in game situations. “Getting my shot a lot more consistent… and just keep building on my offensive game, try to get more comfortable with the speed of the NBA,” Thiero said earlier this summer.
If the wrist issue lingers, the Lakers are expected to exercise caution and keep him sidelined until he is fully recovered.
