SALT LAKE CITY — Cameron Boozer delivered a well-rounded opening statement in his first professional game, recording 15 points, four rebounds and four assists in 24 minutes as the Grizzlies routed Oklahoma City in Salt Lake City’s summer league. The No. 3 overall pick, fresh out of Duke, set the tone with a two-handed dunk over No. 7 selection Aday Mara and drew praise from scouts for his playmaking.

“It felt comfortable,” the 18-year-old said, noting the challenge of adapting to a new system after only a week of practice. Boozer also acknowledged the responsibility of leading Memphis’ rebuilding core, adding, “The first thing you have to do is show up and show you deserve that.”

California Classic: Acuff Powers Through Slow Start

In Sacramento, Kings guard Darius Acuff Jr. shook off a cold shooting night to post a game-high 25 points in 24 minutes during his California Classic debut. The seventh pick hit just 9-of-29 attempts and had defensive lapses, but he assisted on Nique Clifford’s decisive three-pointer late in the fourth quarter. “I was getting rushed a little bit,” Acuff said. “I’m just glad we got the win, and I stayed poised down the stretch.”

Ejiofor Brings Energy for Atlanta

Hawks rookie Zuby Ejiofor, taken 23rd in June, contributed eight points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two assists in his first summer league outing. The former St. John’s center emphasized earning his place on the roster. “Nothing’s going to be handed to you,” he said. “I’m just trying to be the best teammate, provide energy and figure out my role.”

Reed Embraces ‘Dirty Work’ for Spurs

San Antonio’s Tarris Reed Jr., whose rights were acquired with the 26th pick, plans to replicate the physical style that helped UConn win a national title. “My screening, my rebounding, my physicality—if that’s what I’ve got to do to win, sign me up,” the 6-11 center said.
