Veteran center Andre Drummond said he is “excited” to join the defending NBA champions after agreeing to sign with the New York Knicks. In his first public remarks, the New York native noted he can replace some of the impact lost when Mitchell Robinson went down. “I bring in a similar talent, similar energy, but I’m a veteran, I’ve been around for a long time. I know what it takes to win,” Drummond said.
As the Knicks prepare for Las Vegas summer league, the organization will closely track forward Mohamed Diawara. Selected in the second round of the 2025 draft, Diawara has reportedly reached a four-year deal worth more than $10 million to remain in New York. Fellow French wing Pacome Dadiet, viewed as a potential trade piece because of the club’s financial outlook, could use summer play to raise his market value.
Contract decisions loom for several rotation players. In a subscriber report, The New York Post’s Stefan Bondy wrote that the team may pursue extensions with Karl-Anthony Towns and Josh Hart either this offseason or during the 2026/27 campaign. Bondy views a new deal for Hart as especially probable. Guard Miles McBride, however, might forgo early negotiations and test 2027 free agency, where he could secure a larger contract than New York is expected to offer under future salary-cap constraints.
Ownership changes on the hockey side will not alter basketball operations. Team governor James Dolan is stepping back from daily oversight of the NHL’s New York Rangers, assigning those duties to his son, Quentin Dolan. The shift, reported by Mollie Parker of The New York Post, does not affect management of the Knicks.
