NEW YORK — NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins said LeBron James does not appear to have a “real plan” for the next phase of his career after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers.

Perkins made the remark on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, during a discussion covered by the New York Post. He suggested the four-time NBA champion has not mapped out a clear path for where—or even whether—he will play next season.

The 39-year-old forward ended a six-season stint with the Lakers earlier this week. While several teams are expected to pursue him, Perkins argued that James’s current uncertainty could complicate any potential move.

James, the NBA’s all-time leading scorer, has not publicly outlined his intentions since parting ways with Los Angeles.
