The Los Angeles Lakers have reached a two-year, $19 million agreement with free-agent guard Collin Sexton, according to Shams Charania. The contract includes a player option for the second season.
Sexton, 27, is the latest newcomer in a busy offseason day for Los Angeles. Earlier agreements reportedly brought center Walker Kessler to the Lakers in a sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz and added free agents Quentin Grimes and Sandro Mamukelashvili.
The guard split last season between the Charlotte Hornets and Chicago Bulls after a deadline trade. He closed the year with the Bulls, averaging 17.5 points across 26 games while shooting 48.2 percent from the field and 41 percent from three-point range. For his career, Sexton owns a 39 percent mark from beyond the arc.
Known for high energy and scoring punch, Sexton is expected to bolster the Lakers’ second unit as the team continues to reshape its roster around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves following LeBron James’ departure.
Salary-cap analyst Yossi Gozlan noted that the Lakers have used their available free-agency spending power but can still pursue roster changes through trades.
