The Los Angeles Lakers will officially unveil rookie guard/forward Cameron Carr in a joint press conference with general manager Rob Pelinka at 2:30 p.m. PT on Friday, June 26. The session will take place at the UCLA Health Training Center in El Segundo and marks Carr’s first public appearance as a Laker.
Carr, 21, was taken with the No. 24 selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, becoming only the third first-round pick the franchise has retained since 2018. The 6-foot-7 wing is expected to field questions about his potential role next to Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves, areas of his game he intends to refine, and how quickly he can contribute to a roster that has emphasized player development under the league’s new collective bargaining agreement.
Pelinka is also likely to address broader offseason plans with free agency opening on June 30 and LeBron James’ future still unresolved.
College résumé
Carr spent his first two collegiate seasons at Tennessee, sharing time with current Laker Dalton Knecht, before transferring to Baylor for his junior year. In 34 starts with the Bears, he averaged 18.9 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.3 blocks while shooting 49.4 percent from the floor, 37.4 percent from beyond the arc and 80.1 percent at the free-throw line. Scouts have cited his combination of shooting, length and defensive versatility as elite NBA tools.
