Boston — League chatter continues to place the Atlanta Hawks among the front-runners should the Boston Celtics entertain offers for All-Star wing Jaylen Brown. CBS Sports’ Sam Quinn noted that Atlanta’s draft-night addition of guard Kingston Flemings could strengthen a potential trade package if Boston decides to move Brown after missing out on Giannis Antetokounmpo.
While talks have been only exploratory, the Hawks join Houston, New Orleans and Portland on the list of clubs said to be evaluating Brown’s availability. No deal is believed to be imminent.
Pistons Center Drawing Interest
Detroit — Quinn also reported rising curiosity around Jalen Duren’s long-term status with the Pistons. The 20-year-old center, eligible for a rookie extension this offseason, averaged solid numbers during the regular campaign but saw production fall in the playoffs.
The Los Angeles Lakers and Chicago Bulls are viewed as possible suitors if Detroit hesitates to commit to a sizable new contract, though current indications suggest the Pistons intend to keep Duren.
Spurs Monitoring Leonard Situation
San Antonio — ESPN’s Bobby Marks recently cited Kawhi Leonard’s former teams as potential destinations should the Los Angeles Clippers test the trade market for the two-time Finals MVP. The mention has revived speculation about a reunion with the Spurs, six years after the forward’s contentious split from the franchise.
At present, San Antonio is not actively pursuing a deal and is considered one of several teams simply tracking Leonard’s status in case the Clippers decide to listen to offers.
