The Atlanta Hawks have picked up their team option on Mouhamed Gueye for the 2026-27 NBA season, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.

The move secures a non-guaranteed $2,406,205 salary for the 6-10 forward/center, keeping him under contract while allowing the club to maintain roster flexibility. Gueye, 23, will be eligible for an extension and can enter unrestricted free agency in 2027 if no new agreement is reached.

Gueye appeared in a career-high 77 games this past season, averaging 4.4 points and 3.6 rebounds in 15.3 minutes off the bench. Despite weighing just 210 pounds, he served as Atlanta’s primary backup center during the postseason matchup with the New York Knicks after veteran Jock Landale was sidelined.

The Senegalese big man’s role has grown steadily since he played only six games as a rookie in 2023-24. He started 28 of 33 contests in his second year before shifting to a full-time reserve spot last season, giving the Hawks a versatile interior option who fits the club’s defensive-minded approach.
