Los Angeles Lakers guard Austin Reaves is poised to become one of the most sought-after free agents of the upcoming offseason, and league executives anticipate an aggressive pursuit from the Brooklyn Nets, according to The Athletic.

Multiple front-office sources told the outlet that Brooklyn is preparing a four-year, $178.5 million offer, the maximum it can extend under current salary-cap rules. The Nets already possess the necessary cap space but remain well outside the playoff picture.

The Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks are also described as “interested teams” willing to rearrange contracts to create room for a competitive bid. Detroit finished last season atop the Eastern Conference standings before offensive limitations surfaced in the postseason, while Atlanta views Reaves as a complementary playmaker for its established core.

The Lakers retain an advantage because they can propose a five-year deal that would start at $47.8 million annually. Both the organization and Reaves have publicly expressed a preference for keeping the 25-year-old in Los Angeles, where he has forged close ties with Luka Doncic and LeBron James.

Former Laker Danny Green has publicly endorsed a maximum extension for Reaves, who averaged a career-high salary-efficient production last year after spending multiple seasons on below-market contracts.
