Mavericks shut down trade calls for Kyrie Irving

The Dallas Mavericks are routinely fielding calls about Kyrie Irving’s availability, but club officials continue to tell rival teams the veteran guard is not on the market, league sources told journalist Marc Stein.

Stein reported Wednesday that multiple clubs have checked in on Irving’s status, yet Dallas has “maintained” its stance that he will remain with the franchise. Minnesota and Detroit are known suitors, while Houston has not made an inquiry, according to the report.

Newly hired team president Masai Ujiri has publicly said he wants the 34-year-old Irving to share the floor with 19-year-old cornerstone Cooper Flagg. Ujiri is said to be intrigued by the possibility of Irving mentoring the No. 1 overall pick as Flagg begins his NBA career.

Irving missed the entire 2025-26 campaign after tearing his ACL but is still widely considered one of the league’s elite offensive talents when healthy, leaving some front offices hopeful Dallas might reconsider its position as the offseason progresses.

The latest outreach comes as Stein continues to compile trade chatter around the league; he posted an updated roundup on June 12, 2026.
