Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Danny Green said the franchise’s 2020 NBA championship won inside the Orlando Bubble was “by far” the most difficult title run of his career.

Speaking with Bleacher Report on June 7, 2026, Green described the roster that featured LeBron James and Anthony Davis as an “iconic, legendary team” and insisted the Lakers would have captured the championship “regardless if it was the bubble or not.”

The 2020 squad combined star power with experienced role players, including Green himself, Alex Caruso, Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Kyle Kuzma, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and JaVale McGee. Before the COVID-19 pandemic halted play in March 2020, Los Angeles held a commanding lead in the Western Conference standings and had just posted back-to-back victories over the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Clippers.

The league’s four-month shutdown forced teams into a restricted environment at Walt Disney World, creating conditions many players later called the most challenging of their careers. While some observers still question the legitimacy of the Bubble title, Green pushed back, arguing the circumstances only increased the difficulty of winning.
