A growing belief inside the Golden State Warriors organization suggests head coach Steve Kerr is seriously considering a new agreement to stay on the bench, according to Monte Poole of NBC Sports Bay Area.

Kerr met for about two hours on Monday with controlling owner Joe Lacob and general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. Sources told Poole that no final decision emerged from the session, but several indicators point toward Kerr leaning to return.

League sources said Kerr discussed both the recently completed season and the team’s future during post-season meetings with players and staff. One source noted Kerr “didn’t sound like someone who didn’t plan on coaching next season,” while another estimated the odds of his return at “50-50,” a shift from the “60-40” likelihood of his departure immediately after the season ended.

Talks with Lacob and Dunleavy, which remain ongoing, will address roster construction, offseason strategy, and a compromise on Kerr’s public commentary regarding social and political issues. Poole reported that Kerr is uncomfortable with limiting his outspokenness, while the front office wants greater tactical flexibility with younger players and increased accountability for everyone, including franchise cornerstones Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

Financial terms are not expected to be a sticking point. Sources told Poole the negotiations are driven by professional and personal principles rather than salary considerations, and all parties must be aligned before any agreement is finalized.
