The Chicago Bulls have inched a step closer to getting guard Josh Giddey back on the court. Giddey, sidelined since Dec. 29 with a strained left hamstring, was moved from “out” to “doubtful” for Sunday’s home game against the Brooklyn Nets, according to K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network. While Johnson noted he still does not expect the 21-year-old to play, the change in status signals that his return is approaching.
Tyson Emerges for Cleveland
The Cleveland Cavaliers may have found the consistent small forward production they have been searching for. Second-year wing Jaylon Tyson followed his breakout performance in Philadelphia with another strong showing, prompting The Athletic’s Tony Jones to suggest the long-running hole at the position could finally be filled.
“I needed to figure out what role I had to play,” Tyson said after the win. “Tonight, Philadelphia tried to take Donovan Mitchell out of the game, so Donovan told me to be ‘California Jaylon.’ That meant for me to go and get a bucket.”
Tyson finished with 39 points and set up the game-winning basket against the 76ers. It’s a striking jump from his rookie campaign, when he averaged just 3.6 points. This season, he is up to 13.4 points per game while shooting 52 percent from the field and nearly 48 percent from three-point range.
“The award is made for people like Jaylon,” Mitchell said, lobbying for league recognition. “He should win it.”
Jackson Back for Pacers
Indiana Pacers center Isaiah Jackson returned to action Saturday after missing almost four weeks with a concussion. Jackson told Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star that his symptoms were severe, describing persistent headaches, fogginess, and sensitivity to light and sound that kept him isolated in a dark room.
“It was bad,” the 22-year-old said. “I was literally just in my room with the blinds shut.” Jackson called the episode one of the toughest health scares of his career but expressed relief to be back in the lineup.
The Bulls host Brooklyn on Sunday, the Cavaliers continue their road swing, and the Pacers look to build momentum with Jackson available again.
